Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has been on a hunger strike in a Georgian prison for 12 days. On October 11, he was visited in prison by his mother, Giulia Alasania, and his sons, 26-year-old Eduard and 15-year-old Nikoloz.
Saakashvili's mother told reporters she asked her son to end the hunger strike, but he «does not want to talk about it».
She added that her son was probably starving for 15 days because he had not eaten anything before he was imprisoned. The same information was previously voiced by politician Nikoloz Kipshidze.
Alasania added that Saakashvili now looks «not like before». According to her, he «tries to stay cheerful and cheerful, but this is not the case».
