A single aviation area opened between Ukraine and the EU

Today at the 23rd Ukraine-EU summit an agreement on «open skies» was signed between Ukraine and EU countries, UNN reports.

 

The document was signed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, Ambassador of the Slovenian Presidency of Slovenia Tomasz Mentzin, and Josep Borrel, Vice-President of the European Commission, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

 

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen were present at the signing of the agreement.

 

The signing of the document was preceded by Charles Michel's announcement of more than 50 million visa-free travel from Ukraine to the EU since 2017.

 

 «The new agreement between Ukraine and the EU on a single aviation area opens the market for budget airlines and offers many more opportunities for exchanges and visits,» said Charles Michel.

 

The agreement, the Deputy Prime Minister's Office for European Integration explained, should increase the efficiency and safety of flights, increase competition, and improve comfort along with lower flight prices.

 

In addition, , the agreement provides for the acquisition by Ukrainians of such privileges as:

increasing the number of international and domestic airlines.

 

Increasing the number of airports to fly from Ukraine

 

Increasing comfort at airports. Increasing the availability of domestic flights that will be able to perform European air carriers.

 

Opening the possibility for Ukrainian airlines to perform complex flights in the EU with at least one route point in Ukraine.
