The Cabinet of Ministers will soon complete the draft law on multiple citizenship. The examination of this document is currently underway at the Ministry of Justice.

This was stated by First Deputy Interior Minister Yevhen Yenin.

According to him, the bill is to allow ethnic Ukrainians who have passports of other countries, including NATO and European Union, without renouncing their citizenship, to acquire the right to obtain Ukrainian citizenship by territorial origin.

«We are talking about their more active involvement both in terms of business processes and cultural diplomacy, and in the political processes taking place in Ukraine. We should not leave aside the absolutely natural desire of these people to be part of Ukraine,» said Yevhen Yenin.

However, according to the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, the problem is that not all countries are friendly to Ukraine. Given this foreign policy on the part of individual neighbors, security measures must also be put in place on the issue of multiple citizenship.

«I am confident that in the near future we will see the completion of preparatory processes at the level of the Ukrainian government. In the future, this case will be up to parliament, and we will certainly actively promote this bill,» said Yevhen Yenin.
