The decision to send the first deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Nariman Dzhelyalov, arrested in the occupied Crimea, to a psychiatric hospital for examination is a punitive practice. First Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Japarova wrote about this on Twitter.

It will be recalled that Nariman Dzhelyalov, the deputy head of the Crimean Tatar People's Majlis, who was illegally detained in the occupied Crimea, was forcibly sent for a psychiatric examination despite his refusal.

We will note that on September 4 it became known that in the Crimea security officers came with searches to the deputy chairman of Majlis Nariman Dzhelyalov. As a result, he was detained.

The Crimean Prosecutor's Office, meanwhile, has opened a criminal investigation into the illegal searches and detention of Nariman Dzhelyalov.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine strongly condemned the illegal detentions and linked Dzhelyalov's detention to his participation in the Crimean Platform summit.
