On February 3, the European Commission will begin informal high-level meetings with EU member states to discuss the details of the 13th package of sanctions against Russia for its attack on Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters.


According to the agency, which cites three diplomatic sources, the proposals will include closing more loopholes to circumvent sanctions, in particular for components that can be used for military purposes. New lists of individuals and entities will also be considered.


Additionally, proposals for minor sectoral measures, such as new import bans, will be discussed. According to Reuters, Poland and the Baltic states are in favor of banning imports of Russian aluminum and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
