Russian army has increased by 15% during the war in Ukraine, - NATO's European Commander

The Russian army in Ukraine has increased during the war, despite heavy losses. This was stated by Supreme Commander of NATO's forces in Europe Christopher Cavoli at a hearing in Congress.

It is now 15% larger than at the time of the invasion, Business Insider reports his words.

"Over the past year, Russia has increased the number of its troops on the front lines from 360,000 to 470,000," Cavoli said, linking this to Russia's increase in the conscription age from 27 to 30.

This increase, according to the general, means that Russia will be able to increase "the number of available military recruits by 2 million in the coming years."

"Overall, Russia is on its way to command the largest army on the continent. Regardless of the outcome of the war in Ukraine, Russia will be bigger, more lethal, and more angry with the West than it was when it invaded," Cavoli said in his opening statement.

Earlier, US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell said that Russia had almost completely rebuilt its army after huge losses at the beginning of the invasion. He connected this, in particular, with China's help.
