The USA and allies want to put Ramstein under NATO control over Trump fears - Politico

The Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense (Ramstein format) may be led by the North Atlantic Alliance instead of the United States. Such measures are to be taken against the backdrop of Donald Trump's possible presidency. This was reported by Politico.

The initiative is designed to help maintain arms supplies to Kyiv if Donald Trump returns to the White House, according to European and American officials.

The idea is to provide the other countries of the bloc with a "stronger voice" in the decision-making process within the group, one of the sources explained.

The gradual transition of the group to NATO control is scheduled to be discussed at a meeting of the alliance's foreign ministers in Brussels on April 3-4. According to the publication, this step is to be finalized at the July NATO summit in Washington.

In addition, the alliance is working on the idea of a five-year aid package to Ukraine worth up to $100 billion in case of possible political changes. This proposal, called the Mission for Ukraine, will also be discussed at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.
