The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleh Nikolenko, announced that he is resigning.
"This was my last week as a spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. 3.5 years, most of which were spent in the most difficult period in the history of our country. It was a great honor and responsibility for me to be the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. And I am grateful to Minister Dmytro Kuleba for his high trust and the opportunity to work together all this time," he wrote on Facebook.
Nikolenko thanked the team at the press service and his colleagues in the department, emphasizing that together they had brought Ukrainian diplomacy communications to a global level.
"We can be proud that our approaches are now setting global trends, and are being looked up to, studied and adopted in different countries. I am grateful to my colleagues in the Ministry in Kyiv and abroad for their well-coordinated teamwork. After Russia's full-scale invasion, our diplomats spoke with a powerful proactive voice. This was extremely important both in the context of exposing Russia's crimes and attracting international support for our struggle," Nikolenko added.
He also thanked his journalistic colleagues with whom he had the honor of working over the years.
"The end of one chapter means the beginning of a new one. As we begin our new diplomatic chapter, we will continue to work together as fruitfully as possible for the benefit of our country's interests," Nikolenko concluded.
