Russians shelled one of the thermal power plants in the east of Ukraine again: three power units under repair

Russian troops once again shelled a thermal power plant in the east of Ukraine. Three more power units went into emergency repair. This was reported by the press service of Ukrenergo.

"Due to damage to the power grids by shelling and bad weather, two thermal power plants in the southern and western regions stopped supplying electricity," the company said in a statement.

In particular, three power units at TPPs in different regions went into emergency repairs. Meanwhile, solar power plants produce almost no electricity due to cloudy weather.

"Ukrenergo notes that this morning's electricity consumption is 1.9% higher than yesterday, December 13. Due to the additional load, Ukrainians are urged to consume electricity sparingly.

"Electricity is imported during daytime hours from Slovakia, Romania and Moldova. The total volume is 3,429 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 621 MW in some hours. From December 1, the technical possibility of importing electricity from Europe to Ukraine and Moldova is 1700 MW," the press service adds.

It is reported that 225 settlements in Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions are without electricity due to the bad weather. In Donetsk region, 147 settlements have been without power for more than a day. Due to hostilities and other reasons, 454 settlements remain without electricity.

The shelling also caused new damage to the power grids in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson and other regions. Emergency repair works are carried out depending on the security situation and with the permission of the military.
