The railway operators of Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania held a trilateral meeting in Chisinau to agree on measures to improve transportation in the Reni-Giurgiulesti Galati direction and vice versa. This was reported by the press service of the Moldovan Railways (Calea Ferată din Moldova) on Facebook.
"As a result of the meeting, the parties identified the following measures to improve the situation: non-stop passage through Reni; coordination of transported volumes in five days; transfer of complete combined trains from Moldova to Romania, 50-60 wagons; trilateral exchange of information on the movement of wagons and the daily processing capacity of recipient terminals in Galati; integration of recipient terminals in Galati into the Mesplan AS," the statement said.
It is noted that the implementation of these measures will lead to a threefold increase in the capacity of the Giurgiulesti Galati checkpoint, a 2-3 day reduction in the time of movement of wagons between the ports of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, and a reduction in transportation costs. The meeting of the operators took place on November 8-9.
