Syrian army entered into battle with US troops in the east of the country

On the night of November 9, the Syrian army clashed with US troops and the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) east of the Euphrates River. According to the Al Mayadeen TV channel, fierce fighting broke out after the Israeli and US air forces struck the eastern quarters of the city of Deir ez-Zour, located in northeastern Syria.

It is reported that the conflicting parties used a wide range of weapons, including heavy artillery and missiles. The fighting began around 3:00 a.m., and an hour later, the activity of the clashes decreased.

The day before, on November 8, the Israeli Air Force struck "some military sites in the southern region" of Syria. At the same time, the Americans attacked a weapons depot in the east of the country. At the same time, the US military command reports that F-15 fighter jets struck in self-defense, as the warehouse was used by representatives of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and related groups.

"Following a series of attacks on American citizens in Iraq and Syria, US Central Command forces conducted an airstrike on a facility in Syria used by the IRGC and associated groups. We will take all necessary measures to protect our people from those responsible for these attacks and will respond at a convenient time and place," the Pentagon said in a statement.

At the same time, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle Eastern Affairs Dana Stroul  said on November 8 that the Pentagon was considering resuming military operations against the IRGC and its pro-Iranian groups. The reason for this is the continuous attacks on US military bases and other facilities in Syria and Iraq. According to her, since October 17, they have been attacked by various groups 41 times.

"The United States has taken and will continue to take the necessary military measures against the IRGC and its affiliated groups, as appropriate. This includes the use of force against military personnel and facilities of the IRGC and associated groups within the area of responsibility of the US Central Command," Stroul emphasized.
