The Israeli army is actively preparing to continue fighting in the winter and has already begun a large-scale supply of specialized winter equipment to its troops on all borders of the country. This was reported by The JPost.
The Central Command of the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) has announced that 129,000 winter jackets and 369,000 small disposable heating bags have already been issued to the military.
However, with the exception of the 1948-49 War of Independence, which was a different era from a tactical point of view and in which the IDF was trying to hold or regain ground rather than invade enemy territory, as in the case of the current invasion of Gaza, the IDF has no experience in winter warfare.
Even assuming that the issue of providing the military with winter clothing and heaters has been resolved, there are still difficult challenges associated with adapting to winter conditions, including heat supply and accounting for the differences in the functioning of equipment and personnel in the cold season.
