Planning an attack on Israel: Hamas used underground phone lines - CNN

Hamas militants have been using telephone lines laid in tunnels under the Gaza Strip for a long time while planning an attack on Israel. This was reported by CNN.

According to the agency's sources, a small cell of Hamas militants had been planning a surprise invasion of Israel, communicating through a network of landlines built into this network of tunnels for two years.

The use of such an unusual communication system allowed the militants to keep their communications secret, preventing possible detection of their actions by Israeli intelligence.

It is also claimed that as part of this operation, the militants avoided using computers and cell phones for two years.

This intelligence partly explains why Israel and the United States did not detect the upcoming Hamas attack on October 7.
