Police detained about 300 activists after invasion of the Capitol

On Wednesday, protesters broke into one of the buildings of the US Capitol, demanding that lawmakers and the Joe Biden administration achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ABC News reports.

Among the demonstrators were activists of the Jewish Voice for Peace movement, wearing black T-shirts with the words "Jews Speak: "Cease fire" and "Not in our name".

Police began to push the activists out of the building, and about 300 people were detained.

The protest began the day before in the Capitol Hill area and was coordinated with the authorities, but at some point, some protesters broke into the government compound.
