Negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union should begin in the first half of 2024. This was announced by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva following a meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo.
"It is during the Belgian presidency of the EU Council (first half of 2024) that the actual start of negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the EU will begin," he wrote.
Zhovkva emphasized that the Belgian presidency will not be limited to symbolism, but will be a real support for Ukraine from the very "institutional heart" of the European Union.
