On the night of July 24, Moscow was attacked by unknown drones. And in the morning, explosions rang out in the Crimea temporarily occupied by Russian troops. They report hitting military targets.
What is known at the moment.
Explosions in Moscow
The mayor of Moscow Serhii Sobyanin announced the attack. According to him, two drones attacked the city. One fell into a business center, the other fell near the building of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"Today around four o'clock in the morning drone strikes were recorded on two non-residential buildings. There were no serious damages or casualties," he wrote in Telegram.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation traditionally blames Ukraine for the attack. The department claims that they allegedly intercepted two Ukrainian drones.
"Two Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed by means of radio-electronic warfare," the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said.
According to rosZMI, the wreckage of the first drone was discovered near the building at 17 Komsomolskii Prospect. The building is located next to the Ministry of Defense and the State Government of the Russian Federation.
Bellingcat investigator Hristo Grozev points out that the Military University is located near the place where the drone wreckage fell, as well as several secret facilities of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Federation, in particular the "GRU cyber attack headquarters".
The second drone hit the built business center on Lykhachova Avenue. As a result, windows on the 17th and 18th floors were broken in the building on an area of 50 square meters. The Leroy Merlin store is located in this building.
Emergency services arrived at the scene of the incident. The city hall announced that traffic along Komsomolskii Avenue and Lykhachova Avenue was blocked.
Later, emergency services of Russia reported another UAV.
"A helicopter-type drone without an explosive device fell in the Zelenograd district of Moscow on the territory of the central cemetery, no one was injured," the message reads.
The spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, commented on the "drone attack" on Moscow during the telethon and denied Ukraine's involvement in the explosions in the Russian capital.
"Unfortunately, we do not have the means to detect at such a long distance. Our radio engineering troops can see targets inside the country, beyond its borders for 100 or more kilometers. What is happening in Moscow is more for intelligence," he said.
As sources in the special services informed the mass media, the "drone attack" on Moscow is a special operation of the GUR. In addition, they hinted that "all the birds flew to Moscow."
Explosions in Crimea
Explosions rang out in Crimea occupied by Russian troops this morning.
The head of the occupation administration of Crimea, Serhiy Aksyonov, reported that ammunition had been found in the warehouse.
"An ammunition warehouse in the Dzhankoy district was hit," he wrote. According to him, 11 drones attacked the peninsula.
Aksyonov also reported that railway traffic has been suspended in the Dzhankoy district and the Dzhankoy-Simferopol highway.
It was also decided to evacuate residents of nearby villages within a radius of five kilometers from the attack site in Dzhankoy district to temporary accommodation points.
Later, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced an attack by 17 drones on the occupied Crimea
The Russian Ministry of Defense accuses Ukraine of drone attacks. They said that they allegedly prevented "Kyiv's attempt to carry out a terrorist act."
The Russians are boasting that allegedly "14 Ukrainian UAVs were planted by the forces of the ERB", and another 3 "fell on the territory of Crimea".
According to the spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, Russian troops in Crimea shoot down drones with electronic warfare systems.
"It is not necessary to shoot down a drone with anti-aircraft missiles or anti-aircraft guns. You can simply make it fall, sit down or intercept it with a means of radio-electronic warfare. Russia has powerful stations that also interfere with the work of our Defense Forces. Because the drones we use, and quadcopters and others that annoy the occupiers. That is why they have enough of these systems (REB - ed.)," he said.
