Ukraine will be able to join NATO according to the Finland-Sweden scenario. These countries join the Alliance without a Membership Action Plan (MAP).

This was announced by the head of the British Foreign Ministry, James Cleverley, in an interview with the La Repubblica newspaper.

"I believe that Ukraine can do it without the usual delay, as it happened with Sweden and Finland," he said.

At the same time, he stated that he does not know when exactly Ukraine will join NATO, as it is not known how long the war with Russia will last.

"The army in Kyiv now has the experience of supplying weapons and training according to NATO standards," Cleverley said.

The possibility of Ukraine's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance without the implementation of the Membership Action Plan began to be actively discussed before the July summit.

The media also reported that US President Joe Biden supported NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's idea of Ukraine joining NATO without a MAP.

Later, the leader of the American state emphasized that he has no intention of simplifying our country's path to the Alliance.

Earlier, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace said that the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance need to consider the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO without implementing the Membership Action Plan.

Membership Action Plan (MAP) - a program for accepting new members into NATO. Started in April 1999. It is designed to help countries that intend to become NATO members.

The MAP includes specific conditions and reforms designed to help candidates meet certain political, economic and military criteria. Their implementation can take years or even decades. If Ukraine is allowed to join without a MAP, it will significantly speed up the country's path to the Alliance.
