Ukraine and the UN agreed on the evacuation of the occupied Left Bank: the Russian Federation must grant access

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, and the coordinator of the UN system in Ukraine, Denise Brown, agreed that the organization will immediately form groups to provide humanitarian aid and evacuate people in the occupied territories on the Left Bank of the Dnieper, provided that Russia provides access and security guarantees.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Thursday.

At the meeting, Kuleba noted the UN's direction of humanitarian aid to the affected areas after the Russians blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP. At the same time, it was noted that the scale of destruction and suffering caused to citizens and animals requires a qualitatively different response.

According to the results of the meeting, it was agreed that the UN will immediately increase the amount of aid and send additional forces to Kherson and other affected regions.

In addition, it was agreed that the UN will immediately form groups in Zaporizhzhya and Kherson that will be sent to the affected occupied territories of the Left Bank to provide humanitarian aid and evacuate people on the condition of ensuring safe passage to the occupied territories from the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine.

Kuleba assured the UN that Ukraine provides all UN security guarantees for humanitarian operations in the entire defeat zone.

The parties agreed that the mentioned UN units will go to the affected areas in the temporarily occupied territories from our territories as soon as Russia provides access and security guarantees.

Currently, the United Nations expects the Russian side to provide the specified guarantees and access to the occupied territories, which suffered as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP dam.

Earlier on Thursday, Kuleba expressed hope that after working with representatives of the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross, members of these organizations will be deployed in the disaster zone after the Russians blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP.

The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that he was shocked by the reaction of the UN and the Red Cross to the detonation of the Kakhovskaya HPP by the Russian occupiers.

Zelenskyi emphasized that despite the fact that the tragedy happened on the night of June 6, neither the UN nor the Red Cross "is there", although they "should be the first to save lives", since this is what these structures were created for.
