Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called French President Emmanuel Macron "disgusting" and "Putin's stooge" when the French president traveled to Moscow to meet the Kremlin leader.
This was stated in his podcast by the former assistant to the British government Guto Harry, his story is quoted by The Guardian.
Harry created a podcast about his time in the British government during his time as Johnson's head of communications.
In a recent episode of the podcast, Harry talked about ex-Prime Minister Johnson's harsh attitude towards the French leader in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
"At the beginning there was tension when people like Emmanuel Macron of France went to Moscow to talk to Putin. I think Boris called it in private conversations 'disgusting'. And at the same time, I think Macron felt the tension from the fact that Boris seemed to be running, helping Ukraine militarily," - shared a former subordinate of Johnson.
According to Harry, at one of the meetings with a small group of his aides, Johnson launched a vicious attack on Macron. At the same time, Harry clarified that Johnson was not usually inclined to get very angry or use particularly strong expressions.
"Essentially, he (Johnson. - Ed.) said: 'He (Macron. - Ed.) is a four-letter word that starts with "C" (it's a profanity. - Ed.), he's a weirdo , he is Putin's sycophant. We need to deal with him," said Harry.
Subsequently, the ex-assistant of the former prime minister noted, Johnson and Macron established a relationship.
"I'm glad to say that within a few weeks they certainly reconciled. They got along very well. They even went to drink whiskey together at the G7 summit," said the ex-assistant.
