The Czech Republic completely refused Russian gas

The Czech Republic completely refused to import Russian gas in the first quarter of 2023.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

"For the first time in the recent history of the Czech Republic, we did without gas supplies from Russia during the first quarter of the year. This is a great achievement. I do not know of any other country that was able to get rid of almost one hundred percent dependence on gas imports from Russia during the year. We all contributed to this is because the reduction in consumption played a decisive role," Czech Trade Minister Józef Sikelá said.

They were able to replace gas from Russia with supplies from other countries. Thus, natural gas in the first quarter of the year came from Norway, and liquefied gas was supplied by sea via Belgium and the Netherlands. In general, all supplies transited through Germany.

The ministry also reported that gas reserves as of April 20 stood at 1.668 million cubic meters, and according to available data, this is the highest value since at least 2015.

We will remind you that the Dutch government is working on ending the import of liquefied natural gas from Russia.

Great Britain has completely stopped importing liquefied natural gas from Russia from January 1, 2023.
