Denmark, together with the Netherlands, plans to transfer 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. However, they can be delivered only at the beginning of 2024.

 As reported by local radio, this statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, and acting Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

 "We are talking about a large donation from the Danish side as part of a joint project with the Netherlands, we are handing over 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. This is a very significant contribution, which is in addition to the up to 100 used Leopard 1 vehicles we have already announced," Rasmussen said.

 In turn, Poulsen noted that these 14 Leopard 2 will be delivered to Ukraine in early 2024.

 "These are not Danish tanks. This is cooperation in the provision of tanks that are not Danish, but which are procured in cooperation with the Netherlands. It is no secret that there was a broad desire to consider the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks, which are even larger than the Leopard 1. Now it is possible, and we are happy and proud of it," he added.

 Poulsen expressed hope that by the end of 2023 at least 80 Leopard 1 tanks will arrive in Ukraine.
