The United States conducted a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile

The US conducted a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile. The press service of the US Air Force writes about this.

"On April 19, at 05:11 a.m. Pacific time, a joint Air Force Global Strike Command aircrew and Navy crew launched an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, equipped with a single reentry test vehicle, from Vandenberg Air Force Base."

According to the US Air Force, this test launch is part of routine and periodic activities aimed at demonstrating that the United States' nuclear deterrent is safe, reliable and effective in deterring 21st century threats and reassuring allies.

It is noted that such tests have been conducted more than 300 times before, and this test is not a result of current world events.

"Strategic deterrence is the most important mission of our Air Force. This test launch confirms what our allies and partners already know - we are always ready to defend the United States with a capable nuclear force anytime, anywhere, on command to deliver a global strike," said Gen. Thomas A. Bussier, commander of the Air Force Global Strike Command.

The Minuteman III is an American intercontinental ballistic missile that has been in service with the US Air Force since 1970. The maximum flight range reaches 13,000 kilometers. This missile undergoes constant modernization and, as a result, new versions are regularly tested.
