Finland does not want to transfer Hornet aircraft to Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of Finland responded to Ukraine's request for negotiations on the possibility of transferring Hornet fighters.

This was said by Finnish Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen, writes Yle.

The minister said that Finland considers the discussion on the possibility of transferring Hornet fighter jets to Ukraine irrelevant.

According to him, the Hornet fighters will be used by the Finnish Defense Forces for the next few years, after which their life cycle of about three decades will come to an end.

Kaikkonen added that the answer to Ukraine's request was given last week.

In March, Ukraine turned to Finland and offered to discuss the possible transfer of Hornet fighters to Ukraine.

The request came after Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin, during a visit to Kyiv, discussed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky the possibility of transferring Hornet fighter jets to the country.
