French National Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu has announced that the maximum age of reservists will be raised to 70, which comes amid controversial pension reforms.
Lecornu said this on the air of the RTL radio station on Tuesday.
"We will increase the age limit... People will be able to be reservists in the French army up to 70 years old, and for certain specialists - up to 72 years old," he explained.
Currently, in France, the maximum age of reserve servicemen ready to be called up in case of need is 60 to 65 years.
