Ukraine is launching a new state policy on demining territories

Ukraine is launching a new state policy on humanitarian demining of territories. The country also plans to create a coalition of states to help in this area.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal reported this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

He noted that after the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine turned into the country most polluted by mines, bombs and shells in Europe.

"About 174,000 square kilometers of our land are littered with explosive objects. This is like half of the territory of Japan, one and a half of Greece or two square meters of Austria," the prime minister said.

Shmyhal noted that only in the last month, 724 people were blown up by enemy mines, 226 of them died.

In addition, a large amount of fertile land is unsuitable for cultivation. According to him, crops from these lands could feed more than 80 million people around the world.
