Pashinyan: CSTO is leaving Armenia, and this worries us

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is leaving Armenia, which worries the country.

"When the Secretary General of the CSTO visited Armenia, he told me that the Organization has fears that Yerevan will withdraw from it. I replied that these fears are not appropriate, but other concerns that exist in the Republic of Armenia are appropriate, and they relate to that the CSTO will leave Armenia. And my assessment is as follows: the CSTO, willingly or not, is leaving Armenia, and this worries us," said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

He added that Armenia would agree to assume the post of Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO, if it does not turn out that the wrong message will be sent to the people.

"We have long and consistently worked with the CSTO and continue to work. We proposed our principles, which, by the way, are not about Armenia. It is about whether the CSTO operates at least on the territory of Armenia or not, whether it exists or not? We are ready to raise this issue ", - he said.

Pashinyan also commented on the remark that the Armenian army does not take part in hostilities, but at the same time wants the help of the CSTO.

"In November 2021 and September 2022, hostilities took place. Then they said: the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia applied to the CSTO for the wrong article. It did it specifically so that the CSTO could not make a decision. But we applied to the CSTO for all possible articles," he added he.
