Former US representative to the UN, Nikki Haley, has officially announced that she is running for president in 2024. She became the first competitor of Donald Trump, who decided to try to run for the presidency for the second time.

She stated this in a video message published by Twitter.

In her address, Haley, 51, a former governor of South Carolina and former U.S. permanent representative to the United Nations under Donald Trump, called for "generational change" and vowed to stand up to adversaries from both outside and inside.

"Some people look at America and see vulnerability. The socialist left sees an opportunity to rewrite history. China and Russia are on the march. They all think we can be bullied, pushed...You should know something about me: I don't tolerate bullies. And when you push back, they hurt even more if you're wearing heels," Haley said.

At the same time, writes Axios, Haley really has a chance to win support in key states and raise money from donors who are skeptical of Donald Trump.

"I'm Nikki Haley, and I'm running for president," she said at the end of her speech.

It is known that Nikki Haley began her political career in the legislature of South Carolina, after which in 2010 she won the election for governor of the state, where she was initially considered an outsider.

And after six years, in 2017, she became the permanent representative of the United States at the United Nations, she was appointed to this position by Donald Trump, who at that time was the president of the United States.

Already on October 9, 2018, Haley announced that she had decided to resign from her position. Trump accepted her resignation and thanked her for her work.

Interestingly, Haley said in 2021 that she would not run for president if Donald Trump did, but later changed her mind.

We will remind that Donald Trump himself announced his intention to run for the presidency of the United States in November 2022.
