Kharkiv Mayor Terekhov's appeal to the language ombudsman Kremin will be considered on March 1

On March 1, the Kyiv District Court of Kharkiv will consider the lawsuit filed by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov against language ombudsman Taras Kremin due to a fine for using the Russian language.

 This is evidenced by court materials, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

 On January 6, the Kyiv District Court of Kharkiv received Terekhov's administrative lawsuit, in which the plaintiff requests to declare illegal and cancel the resolution of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language Taras Kremnya No. 17 of December 29, 2022, by which the mayor of Kharkiv was found guilty of committing an administrative offense, provided for in part 2 of Article .188-52 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine and an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of 3,400 hryvnias was applied.

 The court scheduled a court hearing for consideration of the merits of the case at 3:00 p.m. on February 8.

 However, later the meeting was postponed until March 1.

 As reported, Kharkiv Mayor Terekhov sued the language ombudsman Kremin because of a fine for using the Russian language.

 Ihor Terekhov was fined 3.4 thousand hryvnias for using non-state language during the telethon "Yedini novyny". Taras Kremin made the corresponding decision.

 Also, the mayor of Kharkiv received a warning from the language ombudsman that according to the law, the official pages of the mayor in social networks must be in Ukrainian.

  The Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, Taras Kremin, issued a resolution imposing an administrative fine in the form of a fine for violating the law "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as a State Language" by Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov.
