In the next two to three months, Ukraine can receive from 150 to 300 tanks. At the same time, taking into account the fact that the tanks are unlikely to arrive in Ukraine before the new offensive of the Russian Federation, it is not worth making negative forecasts in this regard.
People's deputy from "Servant of the People" Fedir Venislavskyi told about this in an interview with the media.
"There are different calculations. But if we speak roughly, then in the near future we may receive 150-300 tanks - within 2-3 months," he said.
Commenting on his interview with Bild, in which the people's deputy said that for the complete liberation of Ukraine, 500 to 700 tanks are needed, Venislavskyi said that Ukraine expects the transfer of an additional number of tanks from its partners.
"When we talk with our Western partners, we always try to ask for more. If we have a total of 10 tank brigades - 1,000 tanks - it will be a very effective tool for deoccupying our territories. But, I think, if there are 5-7 of them - it will also be enough to effectively liberate our territory," the People's Deputy assured.
He recalled that at the last "Ramstein" there was a general understanding that the tanks are needed by April 1, because everyone believes that this period of time can be important due to the activation of Russian troops.
"We are ready for the offensive operations of the Russians. Defense primarily involves the presence of reliable fortifications and artillery that stops the enemy's offensive. Tanks are still more offensive weapons. We are already receiving self-propelled artillery installations. We are receiving armored combat vehicles that can strengthen our defense We receive a sufficient number of hand-held anti-tank weapons," Venislavskyi added.
In view of this, in his opinion, it is hardly worth making very negative predictions about the Russian offensive.
"I think we will be able to restrain this enemy offensive, and then we will expect that our partners will have time to provide the necessary amount of equipment for our offensive," the People's Deputy summarized.
As reported, British Challenger 2 tanks will arrive in Ukraine in March.
In addition, American Abrams M1A2 tanks will be delivered to Ukraine in late 2023 or early 2024.
In addition, Germany will provide Ukraine with up to 25 units of Leopard 1 battle tanks by the summer. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive another 80 units of tanks by the end of 2023.
