The US blacklisted seven Iranian companies that help Russia with drones

The US Commerce Department on Tuesday imposed new sanctions against seven Iranian entities over their production of drones that Russia uses to attack Ukraine.

 This is reported by Reuters.

The USA introduced sanctions against those involved in the development of drones and ballistic missiles in Iran

Companies and institutions from Iran have been placed on the US export control list as engaging in activities contrary to US national security and foreign policy interests.

Some of the companies on the list are associated with the Iranian regime's military organization, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Sanctions of the US Department of Commerce provide that any suppliers of these organizations must have appropriate licenses for the supply of goods and technologies. At the same time, most likely, licenses will be issued only for the supply of food and medicine.

The US is looking for ways to prevent Iran from producing drones

As you know, since the summer of 2022, Russia has been using Iranian-made Shahed drones in Ukraine, which it calls its own development "Geranium". Despite the assertions of Kyiv and the West, Iran has repeatedly denied that it is helping the Russian Federation with weapons, but has already admitted that it was transferring drones before the start of a full-scale invasion.

Since then, the US and other Western countries have consistently imposed sanctions against Iranian companies and people involved in the production of drones and their provision to Russia.

Thus, in November 2022, the United States introduced additional sanctions against individuals and legal entities involved in the production or transfer of Iranian drones to Russia, and in December - also against Russian institutions due to their involvement in the illegal purchase of drones from Iran and their use in the war in Ukraine.
