India's Ministry of Defense has approved the purchase of about 120 Pralai ballistic missiles for the Indian armed forces and plans to deploy them on the borders with Pakistan and China. This was reported by the publication Ani.

"At a high-level meeting in the Ministry of Defense, the purchase of about 120 missiles for the armed forces and their deployment along the borders was approved," the interlocutor of the agency said.

It is emphasized that the Pralai ballistic missile is capable of hitting targets 150 to 500 km away and carrying a warhead weighing 350 to 700 kg. The rocket can be launched from a mobile device.

The Pralai is a solid-fuel guided short-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile for use on the battlefield. The missile is based on the Prithvi Defense Vehicle from the Indian Missile Defense Program.

India successfully test-fired a ballistic missile launched from its first indigenous nuclear submarine, the INS Arihant, in October, the country's defense ministry said.
