The Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region reported that the SSU conducts counter-intelligence measures at the facilities of the UOC (MP), in particular, at the monastery in the Sumy region.
"Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine are conducting counter-intelligence (security) measures at the facilities of the UOC (MP) in the Sumy region. In particular, we are talking about the Sofronievo-Molchensky Men's Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin (UPC of the MP)," the SSU reported.
The measures, as stated, are carried out jointly with other law enforcement structures within the framework of the systemic work of the Security Service of Ukraine to counter the subversive activities of the Russian special services in our country.
"In view of Russia's armed aggression, these measures are carried out, among other things, to exclude the use of religious communities as a center of the "Russian world" and to protect the population from provocations and terrorist acts. With the direct participation of church representatives, law enforcement officers conduct an inspection of the territory and premises to identify persons, possibly , involved in illegal activities to the detriment of the state sovereignty of Ukraine and items prohibited from handling," the SSU said.
And they emphasized that all actions take place within the limits of current legislation. "We emphasize once again: in its activities, the SBU acts exclusively within the framework of the Constitution of Ukraine and current legislation, and also respects the rights of every citizen to freedom of choice of religion and worldview," the SSU emphasized.
