The focus of the European Union summit, which is planned to be held as a one-day meeting on December 15, will be Ukraine and its further support. This was announced by the Chairman of the European Council, Charles Michel, in his letter of invitation to the heads of state and government of the EU countries.
Michel noted that, in addition to Ukraine's urgent needs, there is also a need for substantive discussion on how to guarantee the sustainability of European military and financial support.
The head of the European Council also emphasized that this year has shown more clearly than ever that the EU countries need to act with a united front. He also noted that one of the priorities in 2023 will be the reform of the electricity market, which will be proposed in the EU as soon as possible.
Michel also announced a strategic discussion of transatlantic relations in the changing global context. In particular, the discussion will cover a wide range of EU security and economic cooperation issues.
