The new "Krasnoilsk" checkpoint on the border with Romania has opened

On Thursday, the "Krasnoilsk" automobile checkpoint began operating on the Ukrainian-Romanian border within the Chernivtsi region.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko reported this in Telegram.

"For the first time since the restoration of Ukraine's independence, a new checkpoint (CP) across the state border is being opened: on the Ukrainian-Romanian state border within the Chernivtsi region, the "Krasnoilsk" automobile checkpoint is starting to operate from today, he said.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Romania Nicolae Chuke took part in the opening of the new checkpoint.

According to Tymoshenko, the opening of this checkpoint is not only about facilitating the crossing of the border for Ukrainian citizens and additional jobs, but also an opportunity to unload the only checkpoint in Bukovina on the border with Romania - Porubne, where the queue of trucks could sometimes reach tens of kilometers.

"Krasnoilsk" will be able to pass 2,000 citizens, 10 buses and 490 cars per day.

"Later, this PP will become a full-fledged cargo checkpoint. The issue of creating the necessary infrastructure conditions for road traffic, including cargo, over 3.5 tons, is already being discussed with Romanian colleagues," Tymoshenko wrote.

In addition, according to Tymoshenko, the international checkpoint "Dyakivtsi", also on the border with Romania, is already 85% ready. "By the end of the year, the remaining works will be completed," he said.

Work on the new crossing point "Krasnoilsk - Vikovu-de-Sous" began back in 2015, stopped a year later, and construction has been almost frozen for the past six years.
