Iranian officials are denying reports that the country is sending weapons to Russia, including military drones, for the war in Ukraine, calling it "false," writes CNN.
Iran has "always opposed the continuation of the war," the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, said the day before, adding that Iran is ready to negotiate with Ukraine to drop these accusations.
Earlier on Tuesday, Reuters reported, citing two Iranian officials and two Iranian diplomats, that Iran had promised to provide Russia with surface-to-surface missiles and additional drones. According to Reuters, the pledge was made when several Iranian officials visited Moscow in October.
Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Patrick Ryder said he had read the reports but "does not have any information to confirm at this time."
Since about mid-September, the Russian Federation has been carrying out attacks in Ukraine using kamikaze drones, which the Ukrainian military says are Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones, which the Russian occupiers label as Geran-2. On September 23, the Mohajer-6 multi-purpose strike drone of Iranian production was shot down for the first time.
