The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, responded to the petition regarding the cancellation of the visa-free regime with Belarus. The issue is directed to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration.
This is reported by the official online representation of the President.
Yes, the corresponding petition was posted on the website on July 4.
In it, the author proposes to cancel the visa-free regime with Belarus due to the hostile actions of its regime. The petition emphasizes that the free entry of citizens of Belarus threatens national security.
"Under the guise of citizens of Belarus, the same citizens of Russia whose visas have been canceled can enter freely. Internal affairs bodies, such as the Ministry of Defense, are subordinate to Russia and can issue any documents to the same citizens of the aggressor state. Belarus passively participates in the attack on Ukraine, which allows us to do everything that harms our country," the author writes.
The President of Ukraine, in turn, said that currently the border checkpoints with Belarus are already closed, except for one in Volyn, through which Ukrainians can return. Also, the border of Ukraine is temporarily closed to the entry of citizens of Belarus and other foreigners.
Zelenskiy suggested that the Cabinet of Ministers consider the question raised in the petition.
"Currently, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has been asked to consider the issue raised in the electronic petition in accordance with its competence, as well as to continue the relevant work taking into account the development of the situation, the implementation of measures to protect the national interests of our state and its citizens," he answered.
