The Czech Republic will take critical infrastructure under increased protection

The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic is preparing changes that will allow more effective protection of critical infrastructure in the country.

This was announced by the head of the Defense Department, Yana Chornokhova, reports Czech Radio.

To do this, they plan to expand the powers of the military police and intelligence services.

The minister reported that after the beginning of the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February, "attempts to monitor some important critical infrastructure facilities in the Czech Republic intensified", and in connection with this, the Czech state simultaneously expanded measures to protect them.

After the massive shelling of Ukrainian cities by Russian missiles on Monday, the head of the Security and Information Service of the Czech Republic (BIS), Colonel Michal Koudelka, also stated the danger of Russian special services carrying out subversive operations in the Czech Republic. In his opinion, the country should be able to counter them.

According to the head of counterintelligence, a striking example of hostile actions is the explosion of ammunition in the Czech village of Vrbetycy.

"For Russia, we are an enemy. And Russia wants to destroy its ill-wisher, that is, us, NATO and the Western community," Koudelka emphasized.

At the same time, the director of BIS believes that after the radical reduction of the total number of Russian diplomats in Prague, the opportunities for subversive activities in the Czech Republic are severely limited in the Russian Federation.

The head of the Security and Information Service considers disinformation to be one of the most dangerous means of influencing society.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Army, Karel Rzeka, said the other day that over the past few decades, Russia and NATO have not been closer to a real conflict, both conventional and nuclear, than they are now.

We will remind, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, after the massive missile attacks of the Russian Federation on Ukraine, they believe that the West should lift the remaining restrictions on the supply of weapons.
