Biden announced that he will run for president again in 2024

US President Joe Biden said in a private conversation at the White House last month that he would run for a second term, civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton told colleagues at the National Action Network (NAN) in Washington, CNBC reported.

"I'm going to do it again," Biden said as he posed for a photo in the Roosevelt Room, according to a NAN spokesman who relayed Sharpton's words. "I'm going to."

While Biden's allies have said he will seek re-election, he has shied away from making an unequivocal announcement at least in part to avoid triggering campaign finance reporting laws, the paper said.

His remarks to Sharpton at the end of a meeting with the leaders of several of the nation's most prominent human rights organizations are a stronger assertion that he will be put back on the ballot, the paper said.

Joe Biden, the winner of the 2020 presidential election, was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States on January 20, 2021.

Before that, Biden twice (in 1988 and 2008) unsuccessfully tried to win the post of president: both times he failed to get the nomination from the Democratic Party and was forced to withdraw his candidacy. In 2008, he became a candidate for vice president of the United States together with presidential candidate Barack Obama; Obama and Biden won the 2008 election and the 2012 election, so Biden served as Vice President of the United States from January 2009 to January 2017.
