The Russian Federation is trying to buy Soviet ammunition from Tajikistan - intelligence

The Russian Federation is trying to buy Soviet ammunition for artillery systems from Tajikistan, and is also engaged in recruiting retired military personnel for the war against Ukraine. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this in Telegram, UNN reports.

"The Kremlin is trying to use the resources of the countries of Central Asia in the war against Ukraine. First of all, Russia is interested in the possibility of replenishing the stocks of Soviet ammunition and spare parts for military equipment," the GUR reports.

Recently, the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation asked the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan to transfer 220-mm rockets to the Uragan surface-to-air missile defense system. The Russians are also interested in ammunition for 203-mm self-propelled guns "Pivonia" and UTD-20 engines for BMP-1 and BMP-2, which are stored in large quantities in military warehouses in Tajikistan.

In addition, retired military and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan receive offers to sign a contract with Russia and take part in the war against Ukraine.

A recruitment campaign is underway in the Kyrgyz Republic as well. In the chat of graduates of the Bishkek Higher Military School, messages are received with offers to sign contracts with Russia or one of the private military companies. Similar messages are distributed throughout the republic in professional chat rooms of former military personnel and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
