The new king of Great Britain addressed the parliament for the first time

The King of Great Britain, Charles III, addressed the members of Parliament for the first time after becoming the monarch.

This is reported by Sky News.

He was accompanied by Queen Consort Camilla.

The king said he was deeply grateful for the condolences expressed by members of parliament and colleagues following his mother's death.

The Elizabeth Tower, where Big Ben is located, will mark the passage of the Queen's coffin from Buckingham Palace to Parliament on Wednesday, he said.

Quoting Shakespeare, he said: "As Shakespeare said of Queen Elizabeth the First, she was a model for all living princes."

He added that his mother "set an example of selfless duty" as a monarch, vowing to follow her example of devotion to constitutional rule.

After the address, the King and Queen Consort will travel to Edinburgh, where the Queen's coffin will be moved from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to St Giles' Cathedral.

It will be recalled that heads of foreign states and their spouses, who are on their way to London for the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, were asked to arrive in Britain by commercial flights and were prohibited from using helicopters for travel.

As you know, Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain died on September 8 at the age of 96 in the Scottish Balmoral Castle. Ten days of mourning began in Great Britain, as well as in all countries of the Commonwealth of Nations.
