Death of Elizabeth II: Royal mourning to continue for seven days after funeral

In Great Britain, royal mourning will continue for another seven days after the funeral of Elizabeth II. This is stated in the message of the Buckingham Palace.

On Friday, September 9, Buckingham Palace announced that the period of royal mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II will continue for another seven days after the funeral.

As noted, the date of the funeral will be confirmed later. According to "Operation London Bridge" (the plan in the event of the death of the British monarch), the funeral will take place in about 10 days at London's Westminster Abbey.

Previously, the British government declared national mourning until the end of the day of the state funeral.

Flags at royal residences, which will be closed to the public, will remain at half-mast throughout the mourning period.

A 96-gun salute was fired in London today at 1pm local time - one to mark each year of the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
