Poland and Estonia this week will sign a contract for the purchase of Polish Piorun portable anti-aircraft systems.

Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said this in an interview with the i.pl portal.

"In the near future, literally in a few days, an important contract will be signed between the Polish defense industry and Estonia. The Mesko plant will supply sets of Polish portable anti-aircraft missiles of the Piorun type for the Estonian Armed Forces. The Piorun complexes are designed to combat low-flying aircraft, such as aircraft , helicopters and drones," said Blaszczak.

He did not specify exactly how many MANPADS Estonia intends to purchase and what the cost of the contract is.

At the same time, Blaszczak emphasized that this is a weapon that has proven itself on the battlefield.

"It should be emphasized that these are the weapons that Poland handed over to Ukraine in the first days of Russian aggression and are highly appreciated by our Ukrainian friends. Because Piorun is effective and modern," the minister said.

As reported, on July 15, the US State Department approved the sale of HIMARS rocket launchers and related equipment worth up to $500 million to the Estonian government.
