In Leipzig, unknown persons tried to set fire to a kindergarten for children of refugees from Ukraine

In Leipzig, Germany, unknown attackers tried to set fire to a kindergarten where children of refugees from Ukraine are cared for. This is reported by Bild.

The palia probably poured a flammable liquid, such as alcohol or gasoline, in the entrance and set it on fire. However, the fire did not spread to the "Entdeckerland" kindergarten. The incident ended with minor damage to the door.

No one was injured as a result of the arson. The attack happened when the kindergarten had already closed, so the children and teachers did not stay in the building.

The affected kindergarten is just 700 meters from the refugee home at Liliensteinstrasse 15, which was also attacked with incendiary devices on Friday night. The two buildings are only an eight-minute walk away.

"Due to the spatial proximity, we do not rule out that there is a connection between these two actions," the police said.

"Now we are studying the testimony of witnesses, interviewing local residents, looking for camera recordings and checking social networks," law enforcement officers added.
