Taiwan's army opened fire on an incursion by Chinese drones near a small island in the frontline Jinmen County. This was reported by Focus Taiwan.

The Army's Jinmen Defense Command reports that soldiers stationed at the Shi Island outpost detected an unmanned aerial vehicle flying in a restricted area about 200 meters from the outpost at an altitude of 30 meters.

First, the soldiers fired warning flares. The command itself described its four-step procedure for responding to encounters with drones.

This was the first time that the army announced that it opened fire in the direction of a Chinese drone. Earlier, the Chinese released a series of videos taken by civilian drones, showing them flying near military observation posts and filming them.

The Ministry of National Defense said in order to deal with the growing threat of drones in the long term, it will work on a defense system against drones to be installed next year in two coastal counties of Taiwan located near the coast of China - Jinmen and Liangjiang.
