On August 22, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, signed the law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding Ensuring Civil Protection Requirements During Planning and Development of Territories," which, in particular, provides for the mandatory placement of bomb shelters in new buildings.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Regions, the law provides for a change in approaches to the formation of a system of civil defense structures during the planning and development of territories at the stage of urban planning documentation at the regional and local levels. In particular, the documentation must necessarily contain a section on engineering and technical measures of civil protection, which defines the plan for the development of protective structures and ensuring unimpeded access to shelters.
