The first batch of American Abrams tanks arrived in Poland. According to Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak on Twitter, the combat equipment will help "moderate the aggressor in an emergency.

"Abrams tanks, on which soldiers of the Polish Army (Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland - ed.) will be trained, are already in Poland. We will be ready when the first of the 250 most modern tanks we have ordered become available. Poland will have modern powerful forces to deter the aggressor in an emergency," informs Blaszczak.

According to the press service of the Polish Armed Forces, the contract for the purchase of 250 Abrams tanks with associated equipment, as well as a training complex and ammunition for the Polish Armed Forces was signed on April 5, 2022. The Abrams will be delivered to units located in eastern Poland, on NATO's eastern flank. Deliveries are scheduled to be completed in 2026.

The M1 Abrams is the third generation main battle tank manufactured by the United States and has been in production since 1980. The tank is in service with the armies of the United States, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Iraq.
