Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba believes that the introduction of a visa regime with Russia will protect the national security of Ukraine. This is stated in Kuleba's commentary published on the website of the Foreign Ministry.

"From the very beginning of the aggression, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has advocated the introduction of a visa regime with Russia. The time for such a decision has come. This is a thoughtful step that will protect the national security of our state. And it is symbolic that the decision on visa regime with Russians coincided with the announcement of the European Commission's recommendation to grant Ukraine the EU candidate status. The direction of our state's movement is obvious".

According to the Minister, the introduction of a visa regime for the Russian Federation will strengthen control over the entry and stay on the territory of Ukraine of Russian citizens.

"We must clearly understand where from and with what purpose comes to us. The visa regime will help to identify persons threatening national security away from Ukraine", - said Kuleba.
