Former U.S. President Donald Trump is mulling over whether to run for president before the November 2022 midterm elections to Congress, which will be held in 2024.

The publication, citing sources, writes that the Republican Trump is close to announcing the decision to run for a second term. Specifically, he has already told friends and supporters about these plans.

"An announcement before the midterm elections would allow him to prepare the battlefield, strengthen his donor base and get a head start after the midterm elections," said a former Trump campaign staffer.

Meanwhile, according to CNN, some supporters are concerned about Trump's plans, moreover, advisers and confidants have recommended that he delay the official start of the campaign until 2023.

Note that in November 2022 there will be midterm elections for the U.S. Congress, which will elect 435 members of the House of Representatives and 34 senators.

Recall that in May, Trump admitted that he would run for president again and promised to "clean up crime," which he failed to do in his first term as president.
