Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich has officially closed the sale of English soccer club Chelsea. The total amount of the deal was 4.25 billion pounds sterling (about 5 billion euros).

This is evidenced by a document published on the website of the British government.

According to a report on the division of shares in the May 26, Registration Chamber of the UK, now "Chelsea" belongs to an American consortium led by Todd Boly.

Roman Abramovich is one of the wealthiest Russian oligarchs. He bought Chelsea in 2003 for 140 million pounds and invested in it more than 1.5 billion pounds.

Before Abramovich, the soccer club had one English league title, as well as several domestic and international cups.

With the arrival of the Russian oligarch, Chelsea won the APL five times, five FA Cups, three Football League Cups, two English Supercups. On the international stage, he won the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League twice each, took the UEFA Super Cup in 2021 and won the club's World Cup.

Abramovich will not benefit from the sale of Chelsea. This was one of the conditions of the British government, which imposed sanctions on him after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He himself promised to give the proceeds to a charitable foundation that supports Ukraine.

Ukraine will receive about $3 billion of the total amount of the Chelsea deal.
