Nearly 2,000 children have gone missing in Ukraine since the Russian invasion - Office of the Ombudsman

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, 1,918 children have gone missing. This was reported by the Office of the Ombudsman in Telegram.

 

"The hotline was contacted by 1,164 people on the search for 1,918 children. These are mainly children from Donetsk (including the city of Mariupol), Kiev and Kharkiv regions," the message said.

 

In the department said that in order to prevent cases of disappearance of children, preventive measures are of great importance. It is necessary not to leave the child alone or with unfamiliar people, to write down the child's contact numbers of emergency services, the child must remember the name and address of residence, so that the police will quickly find the parents.

 

The Office of the Ombudsman also informed about what to do if a child goes missing.

 

"First you need to contact the 24-hour hotline of the Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine - 0800-50-17-20. Applications for the search for a child are promptly considered and transferred to rescue, medical and other bodies and services in accordance with the issues raised in the appeal," - stressed in the press service.

 

It is also necessary to report the disappearance of a child on the number 102 to the police, who will begin the procedure for search and return of the child.
